I know, I know, water help to loss weight is poor grammar. It should be more like, “Does Water Help Your Weight Loss Program.” So why did I put “loss” instead of “lose” on purpose? Because a lot of people would miss out on this great and helpful weight loss information if I didn’t.
You see, all those people who accidentally typed “loss” instead of “lose” into their search engine would never find this page if I didn’t spell it that way. So, for their sake, you will see “loss” where “lose” should be a few more times in this article.
Okay, let’s get to the subject:
“It just doesn’t make sense. I have tried all kinds of weight loss diets to lose water and now your telling me to drink more water?”
You’re right. Using water for weight loss doesn’t seem to make sense to a lot of people, but that’s the way it works. Drinking more water will get rid of water and help you lose weight...and as an added bonus, you get a lot of health and appearance benefits also.

What Kind Of Water Is Best?
Congratulations. That is probably the most important question you can ask? Why? Because all drinking water is not equal. Let’s find out which is the best:
Tap Water
Will drinking tap water help to loss weight? Sure, drinking tap water will help with weight loss, but what it does to your health is another story. Most tap water contains fluoride. Fluoride is supposed to be good for your teeth, however consider that:
- The American Dental Association admits that fluoride is harmful to the development of teeth
- Fluoride is used in rat poison
- Ninety percent of the fluoride used in water systems comes from the fertilizer industry, and may contain trace amounts of arsenic along with various heavy metals such as lead and mercury.
The interesting thing is that studies have found that there is no difference in rates of tooth decay in countries that use fluoridated water, compared with those that don’t. However, fluoride in toothpaste does help prevent cavities.
Even if tap water doesn’t contain fluoride, it may contain many other unhealthy elements...so why drink it? I personally would seek a different source of water to help with my
diet plan

weight loss exercise
program.
Bottled Water For Weight Loss?
“Ah, there’s the answer...that pure Rocky Mountain bottled water to add to my weight loss program. Water straight from those pure mountain springs.” If only that were true.
This type of water is not the best support for your weight loss program.
Not too long ago we found out that Pepsi’s “Aquafina” and Coca-Cola’s “Dasani” both came from public reservoirs. Both come from the same source as faucet water. The only difference is that they have been purified.
Aquafina and Dasani are not the exceptions to the rule. About 40% of what’s sold in the markets is just regular, very expensive tap water.
And I pictured myself drinking real sparkly clean mountain water. Fooled me. As it turns out, although water helps with weight loss, bottled water still isn’t your best choice.
We won’t get into the contamination caused by the plastic containers that the water sits in for long periods of time. And we won’t talk about the other contamination found in a huge percent of bottled water. Believe me, if you are going to drink more water to help with weight loss, you should avoid bottled water.
Filtered Water
Actually, in view of our environmental problems, fresh home filtered water is the best option. Just make sure that the filtering system is “reversed osmosis” and that you don’t let the water set in plastic containers for weeks before you drink it.
I own a reverse osmosis system and it’s great. These units don’t cost much and soon pay for themselves. They take all the contamination out of the water and are a very convenient way to have pure, healthy water at your fingertips.
You can find reverse osmosis water dispensers at stores also, but, hey, with gas being so high these days, you save even more money with a home model. Fresh, wholesome, pure water at your fingertips for pennies.
How Does Drinking More Water Help To Loss Weight?
Drinking more water helps to loss weight by:
- Helping suppress the appetite. The more water you drink, the less you eat.
- Water gets rid of salt, which causes water retention.
- Helping your kidneys so that your liver will be set free to burn more fat.(If your kidneys are overburdened, your liver pitches in to help.)
- Giving your body the water it needs so that your body will not think it has to retain water to survive. When your body has enough drinking water, it releases the stored water. Of course, if you continue to drink too little water, you will then become dehydrated.

How Much Water To Drink
You should drink at least eight, eight-ounce glasses of water a day. If you are too heavy, drink more. Yes, you will be visiting the restroom more often, but it’s worth it when you feel better about what you see in the mirror.
Your water should be cold, or at least cool. Why? Because cold water burns more calories. However, if you don’t like cold water, or find it hard to drink a lot of it, drink it warm. The important thing is that you are drinking plenty of water for weight loss.
Don’t try to drink all of your water all at once. It works much better if it is spread throughout the day. However, waiting until you get thirsty to drink water is not a good thing. Thirst tells you that you are getting dehydrated, so drink before you get thirsty.
I carry a large water bottle around. This helps me gage how much water I drink throughout the day.
Oh, a word of caution. It would be a good idea to stop drinking water a few hours before bedtime. Having to crawl out of your warm, cozy bed to make frequent trips to the bathroom just isn’t any fun.
Additional Benefits Of Drinking More Water
Drinking more water to help with weight loss is the cake, and these additional benefits are the icing.
Water will make you look better and healthier by:
- Flushing impurities from your skin
- Help clear your skin
- Help create a nice glow to your skin
- Helps your skin to plump up so that it doesn’t look as saggy. (Important as we grow older)
- Makes your skin look younger
- Improves muscle tone
- Helps you accomplish a better exercise experience
That’s a pretty impressive list of benefits. So in answer to the question, “Does water help to loss weight?” The answer is a definite “yes, plus it does much more.”
