1. Eat six small meals a day rather than three large meals.
Skipping meals (especially fasting) is a lousy way to approach a weight loss program, because it slows down your metabolism. Metabolism is the amount of energy (calories) your body burns to maintain itself at a resting rate. So in order to keep your metabolism up, eat more small meals throughout the day. 2. Get on a
good weight loss exercise program.
Firming up those muscles through the right kind of exercise will:
- Increase your metabolism
- Burn calories
- Help your heart
- Keep you looking and feeling fit
Weight loss exercises are different than lifting weights to build huge muscles. In the long run, extreme weight lifting will hurt your body, especially as you grow older.

3. Plan your meals ahead of time.
If you fail to plan you plan to fail. This is so true with weight loss. Make your food list up and buy only what is on your list. Buy healthy and eat healthy.
4. Slow down...don’t eat so fast.
Eating fast is a big contributor to weight gain. Eating slowly gives your body time to get the nutrition you have eaten into your bloodstream and then to your brain. Then your brain tells your stomach that you are satisfied and don’t need to eat anymore.
Drink water with your meals, put down your fork between bites, and chew thoroughly. This will give your body time to realize that it has had enough food and, thus, you eat less and still feel satisfied.
5. Drink lots of water. (see tip 17 also)
Drinking lots of water actually rids your body of retained water. It doesn’t seem to make sense, but that’s the way it works. If your body thinks your shorting it on water it will retain it to preserve itself. So drink more water. For more on Drinking Water For weight loss, go to my

Healthy Weight Loss Tips 6-10
6. Eat your fruits and veggies.
Yep, our parents were right. Fruits and vegetables are low in calories, high in vitamins and minerals, and, if not overcooked, contain your much needed enzymes for better digestion. And for added nutrition, leave the skin on.
7. Always keep the following snacks handy:
- Air popped popcorn (no butter please)
- All kinds of fruit
- Watermelon is great when in season
- Fat free whole grain crackers (don’t overdo it)
- Carrot sticks or baby carrots and fat free dip
8. Eat the egg whites.
Egg whites are the best source of pure, fatless protein you can get. Not to mention that the price is great. You can make a veggie omelet or an egg and veggie burrito that tastes great. Also, you can hard boil the egg and eat just the whites.
9. Cut down on the salt.
I love salt. The problem with salt is that it encourages you to eat more and contributes to water retention. Use it wisely.
10. Eating before you shop will help you shop smarter.
You know what I mean. You know those times when you’ve gone shopping without eating and the hungry bug bites. And where do you head? Straight for all the wrong foods. Then after you are home and have eaten that fat and sugar-laden snack, you say to yourself, “Why did I buy all this junk anyway?”
Healthy Weight Loss Tips 11-15
Here’s one of my healthy weight loss tips that you will like:
11. Give yourself cheat time.
My cheat time is on Friday nights. That’s when I eat all the cake (or whatever) I want. Don’t worry; it won’t hurt you. What I have found is that it allows me to satisfy my desire for certain foods and also reminds me of how bad it makes me feel later that knight or the next morning. For me, it really helps.
12. Avoid eating a few hours before bed.
At night your system is winding down. To get in the habit of eating and then sleeping on it is a sure road to weight gain. If you must eat before you go to bed, make it fruit or vegetables.
13. Keep some good, healthy homemade soups available.
A good vegetable soup made with some healthy chicken broth and a little white meat if you desire can really help to keep you on track.
14. Keep yourself busy.
“An idol mind is the appetites workshop.” Is that the way it goes? Well, it’s about the same thing. If don’t keep busy, what comes to your mind? So often it’s food. Yes, a lot of people eat from boredom.
So why not get yourself a hobby like gardening. It will help keep your mind off food and the exercise will be good for you too.
15. Stay motivated. (This is one is a must among my healthy weight loss tips.)
If you don’t stay motivated, you will eventually fall off your diet. That’s why I’ve included my

Healthy Weight Loss Tips 16-20
16. Do not keep those irresistible wrong foods and snacks in the house.
Have you still got that box of chocolates hidden in your drawer? Shame, shame. You know what’s going to happen. Throw or give away those goodies that you know you cannot resist, then only make them available at your “cheat time.”
17. Eat your snacks or meals at your weakest times of the day.
I think this tip speaks for itself. If you notice that you are particularly vulnerable to eat wrong at certain times of the day, save some healthy, light snacks for then.
18. When you feel a cheating urge coming on, take a good look at your body.
This really works. Actually, the less you have on, the better. You won’t like what you see...and that’s why it works. Be sure you stare at the part you like the least. That should be all it takes to keep you on track.
19. Buy a pair of pants, a bathing suit, or a dress the size you are aiming for and hang it buy your bathroom door.
This is a great idea. If you follow tip #5, you will be visiting the bathroom quite often. When you do, visualize yourself in that article size you want to be. This should offer some inspiration to stay on your weight loss program.
